2004 A Turbulent Year for Dewsbury
Following relegation into the lowest league, Dewsbury’s future looked bleak – the club needed finance to stay in business.
The management team were forced to look for new income streams and even ask the supporters for their help to avert what can only be described as a crisis. Local paper, The Dewsbury Reporter, covered the story which began with the suggestion that the club may need to take a year out from the league! Supporters rallied to the beleaguered club whilst management explored the possibility of a greyhound track, hosted American Football matches and restructured the team.
