Golden Jubilee Souvenir
The Golden Jubilee of Dewsbury Rugby League Football Club was celebrated by the publishing of a souvenir brochure which chronicled the club’s history since its formation in 1899.
Then, echoing our efforts to celebrate 125 years, a small number of officials and dedicated volunteers put together the publication – it Is a history of the club but also a snapshot of a vibrant town – the number of advertisers shows how Dewsbury has a thriving local economy. George Oldroyd, President and Chairman, wrote an optimistic foreword and ended his review with this statement-
“Dewsbury has had a bright past, it has even a brighter future. Rugby League can still be a world National sport, and if it ever becomes that I am sure that the name of Dewsbury will be playing the prominent part it has played over its many good, strong and stirring years in the past.”
