1991 Last Match at Crown Flatt – Dewsbury Reporter
The catastrophic fire in 1988 meant the club had no choice but to leave the historic ground – selling the land to Duncan Developments and planning to build a new stadium at a site nearby, at Owl Lane.
The last match was an emotional affair – Dewsbury salvaged a draw against opponents Barrow (19-19) in front of a crowd of 1300 supporters.
The next season’s fixtures were to be played at Mount Pleasant, Batley RLFC’s ground – rivals on the pitch but supportive neighbours off it.
