For some reason we have fewest programmes in our collection from the 1930s. For that reason we are particularly grateful to Bernard Shooman, former Dewsbury RLFC Secretary and long-time RL heritage enthusiast for his kind donation of two programmes from this decade.

1938 Hunslet v Dewsbury early pitch protection
Dewsbury travelled to Hunslet in the 1937/8 season during a cold snap – note the pitch protection the hardworking Hunslet groundsman had used to ensure the fixture could go ahead. The boys in the crowd also using the straw for warmth!
